Announcing the GOCC meeting

I am excited to announce the very first Global Ocean Circulation and Connectivity (GOCC) meeting. The meeting will take place on Monday 7th September 2026 at Bangor University’s School of Ocean Sciences (the same week as the Challenger 2026 conference) and will provisionally run from 10:00-17:00 BST.

We are bringing together researchers who explore ocean circulations and connectivity on a multi-basin to global scale. Oceanographers from all disciplines are invited to discuss observational strategies, modelling approaches, theories, and climate projections which advance our understanding of the global ocean network in a changing climate. The meeting will feature keynote talks, short presentations, and posters based on four central themes:

Theme 1: Observing global connectivity and circulation in the ocean,

Theme 2: Theoretical descriptions of global ocean circulation and connectivity,

Theme 3: Climatic impacts of global ocean connectivity,

Theme 4: Advances in numerical modelling of global ocean connectivity and circulation.

There will be no registration fee, but attendees will be expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs. If this sounds like your sort of meeting, please send an email to goccmeeting@gmail.com to express interest.
